The Hawkettes are back in the Lower State Championship for the 3rd year in a row. The Hawkettes will travel to Battery Creek on Friday night. In order for the Hawkettes to win the Lower State Championship, they have to win twice on Friday.
Hanahan Hawkettes Varsity took the lead late and defeated Aynor 7-4 on Wednesday. The game was tied at four with Hanahan Hawkettes Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when Golden Thrower tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
Hanahan Hawkettes Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Aynor to score three runs in the fourth inning. Aynor’s big inning was driven by a single by Emily Squires and a groundout by Clarie Lewis.
Hanahan Hawkettes Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Ashlyn Cribb grounded out, scoring one run.
Golden Thrower got the win for Hanahan Hawkettes Varsity. She allowed nine hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking one.
Lana Johnson took the loss for Aynor. She lasted five innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out one.
Golden Thrower, Ashlyn Cribb, Brooke Vorhis, and Anderson Thrower all had one hit to lead Hanahan Hawkettes Varsity.
Emily Squires led Aynor with three hits in three at bats.
