This is Mrs. Mitchum’s 25th year at Devon Forest Elementary. Before that, she taught 7th graders at Oakbrook Middle and Drayton Hall Middle. She is the proud mother of two beautiful children. Her daughter is a junior in college and her son is in eleventh grade. She received her undergraduate degree from Clemson University and is an avid Clemson fan! Go Tigers! In her spare time, she enjoys shopping and boating.

I am excited to be a DFE Dragon and serve the future leaders of our community!  I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education and my master’s degree in elementary administration and supervision from Charleston Southern University.  I began my teaching career in 2009 at Berkeley Intermediate.  I later transferred to Sedgefield Intermediate to continue teaching and serve as the varsity pitching coach for Goose Creek High School's softball team. In 2015, I had the privilege of moving to H.E. Bonner Elementary School as the Title I Facilitator. 

I joined the Devon Forest Elementary family as an assistant principal in 2022.  I am originally from Durham, North Carolina, making me an avid Duke basketball fan.  A softball scholarship to Charleston Southern University brought me to the Lowcountry.  I have one daughter and love summer days spent at the pool or on the lake.    

I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of North Carolina - Charlotte and my master’s degree in education administration and supervision from the University of South Carolina. GO GAMECOCKS!

I began my teaching journey in Charlotte, North Carolina and taught second and third grades until moving to Charleston in 2020. I jumped at the opportunity to teach first and fifth grade right here at Devon Forest.  In January of 2023, I was honored to continue supporting the leaders of DFE in the new role of assistant principal.

I grew up in a small town outside of Charlotte in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. I love spending time with my family and our dog Kodi! Shopping and going to the beach are my favorite activities outside of school!
