Hawks News · Spring Sport Athlete Spotlight 5/11/20

Over the next few weeks, the Hanahan Athletic Department would like to spotlight our Spring Seniors. We will be posting “Senior Spotlights” to recognize our seniors and their commitment to Hanahan Athletics.

Today’s Baseball Spotlight is Pitcher Austin Oglesby.  Austin is supported by his parents Roy and Karen Oglesby.  Austin has been in the Hanahan Baseball program for 5 years.

After high school Austin plans to attend Charleston Southern University and study computer science. He also wants to continue his baseball career.

The thing that Austin has missed most about this season is the “Working out with my coaches and teammates and getting stronger. I also miss the sunny afternoons and cool evenings playing under the lights.”

Austin’s favorite memory from baseball is “Being able to play the sport I love the most. I am mostly excited that I was given an opportunity to play and make so many memories with my teammates.”

Austin’s words of advice to younger athletes. “Enjoy the moments while you have them. Never miss a rep in the weight room and give 110% effort. Be the standout player in the field and be the best you can.”

Austin’s favorite or memorable quote from a coach is “You will be the bare minimum if you do the bare minimum.” – Brian Mitchell

We want to thank our seniors for their commitment over their time as a Hanahan Athlete. We know that they are going to go on and accomplish great things.

Be on the lookout for our next “Senior Spotlight”.
