Ashlyn Cribb and Golden Thrower had two hits and one RBI each to power Hanahan High School to a victory in the Class 3A softball playoffs on Saturday.
Thrower also hurled a two-hit shutout in the 4-0 Hanahan victory against visiting Aynor in the Lower State final four tournament.
Hanahan (23-4) hosts Battery Creek on Monday at 6 p.m., and the winner advances to the Lower State championship on Friday, May 10. They met on March 28 in Beaufort and Battery Creek scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to win 5-4.
Thrower knocked in Hanahan’s first run on a single in the bottom of the third and courtesy runner Angela Eimers crossed the plate on an error as the Hawkettes took a 2-0 lead.
In the fifth, Cribb singled to lead off and moved to second on Thrower’s sacrifice bunt. After going to third base on Kaylee LeCompte’s infield single, Cribb scored on an error to make it 3-0.
In the sixth, Anderson Thrower reached on an error to lead off and Cribb drove her in with a single to left.
